That’s right. They’ve made another movie featuring those French sword slingers. This time, they have to battle aliens and save France from domination by Sentinal Richelou. OK, that’s a lie. They’re doing the same thing they always do. Swordfighting, buckling their swash and making the odd quip or two, clearly demonstrating just how great their camaraderie is while good triumphs over evil.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Done well, it can be very enjoyable indeed. With a decent looking cast (including Milla Jovovich, Christoph Waltz, Ray Stevenson, Michael Macfadyen and Orlando Bloom) and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, there’s no reason to believe it hasn’t been done well and it won’t be enjoyable. Although I’m not sure about Orlando Bloom chewing the scenery and twirling his moustaches as the bad guy, but I’ll reserve judgement. Also, it’s in 3D. Goody goody gumdrops.
I have no idea when it’s coming out, but I’m sure it’ll be this year at some point.
