Nothing to Lose (1997)

[Movie 248 / Day 261]

Nick Beam (Tim Robbins) has a job and a wife he loves and seems happy with his life. Until one day he comes home early to surprise his wife and discovers her in bed with his boss. He walks out and drives around in a daze, not paying any attention to where he’s going; unfortunately he ends up driving through a bad neighbourhood, where Terrence Davidson (Martin Lawrence) jumps in his car at a set of lights and attempts to mug him.  Nick, rather than capitulating, drives off like a lunatic, running red lights and generally risking both their lives.  So begins a comedy adventure that sees the pair forming a plan to rob Beam’s boss.

It’s pretty formulaic stuff, but Robbins and Lawrence have pretty good chemistry together and it’s genuinely amusing in places. Not the best comedy in the world, but certainly not the worst either.
