[Movie 254 / Day 267]
Peter Klaven (Paul Rudd) has proposed to his girlfriend Zooey and they are happily planning their wedding when he realises he hasn’t got any male friends. Who will be best man and make up the rest of the grooms party? The natural thing to do, obviously, is to consult his gay younger brother on the best way to attract men. This results in a series of ill-fated man-dates; until, quite by chance, Peter meets Sydney Fife (Jason Segel) and quickly becomes best friends with him. They become so friendly that he endangers his engagement and has to choose between his best friend and his fiancĂ©e.
I don’t think I’ve yet seen a Paul Rudd role that I’ve disliked, so a film with him as lead was almost guaranteed to keep me happy. It’s funny (I especially liked Jon Favreau, who plays a grumpy boyfriend) and succeeds in being an unusual romcom.

A cracking film. Every bloke should watch to see why he should have a man cave
